You may use your Shrine Sensor for a lot within The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. It allows you to detect whenever Shrines are nearby, and that can be extremely important. It can become the main way you find Shrines and increase your health or stamina.

However, you can also upgrade the Shrine Sensor to sense more than just Shrines. It can sense anything that you already have in your Hyrule Compendium. This means you can find that rare resource you need more of. This guide will explain how to upgrade it.

Updated by Erin Rice on June 10, 2023: The longer Tears of the Kingdom is out, the more information players have on the world surrounding it. This updated added information on other updates to the Purah Pad. It also added small details about the locations found in the article as well as a better explanation of what the Sensor+ can do.

How To Unlock The Sensor+

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Sensor Plus Quest

If you want to use the Sensor+, first you need to unlock the Shrine Sensor. You can do this by completing the quest "Hateno Village Research Lab" and having Robbie put the Shrine Sensor onto your Purah Pad. From there, he will tell you that you need to have at least 5 Monsters within your Hyrule Compendium if you want to have the Sensor+ upgrade. This upgrade will let you track any monster/resource/item that you have in your Hyrule Compendium.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Sensor Plus Cave

If you do not have those Monsters, you can walk behind the research lab and look down from the edge of the cliff. There, you will see a small pond and the entrance to a cave. You're able to find more than enough Monsters within that cave to add 5 to the compendium.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Sensor Plus Cave Location

The location of the cave is just directly down the hill from the back of the research lab. This cave, known as Walnot Mountain Cave, contains the Barbarian Armor Leg Wraps as well.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Monster

Inside, you can find Bokoblins, Boss Bokoblins, Ice-Likes, Horriblins, Keeses, and a Bubbulfrog. You can even find a Moblin and a Lizalfo encased in ice that can be added.

To add these Monsters to your Hyrule Compendium, just pull out your camera and take pictures of them. Be sure that there is a box around the Monster saying what it is. Once the picture is taken, the Monster will be added to the compendium for you.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Sensor Upgrade

Once you return to Robbie with at least 5 Monsters in your Hyrule Compendium, he will tell you he is ready to add the Sensor+ to your Purah Pad.
