Early on in the story, you'll come across a Ranger Construct at Great Sky Island who will bring you up to speed on building fires and cooking food.

To build a fire in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you'll need some wood, which can be collected by chopping down trees using an axe. Next, you'll need some flint, which you can collect by mining for stones. With wood and flint collected, you'll need to place them next to each other and strike the items with either a stone weapon or a metallic weapon to start a fire.
