Just like in Breath of the Wild, many different types of horses roam the fields of Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Players hoping to tame the majestic beasts need to have access to a stable in order to register them.

The very first one you'll likely come across is the mini Stable in Lookout Landing, near the south exit. However, this Stable cannot be used until you've completed The Incomplete Stable side quest. The Lookout Landing Stable is a mini stable, which means it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of a regular-sized stable like a bed or a pony points rewards ledger system (you can still claim points). But having access to your horse right from the main hub of the game can come in quite handy.

Start The Incomplete Stable

To start this quest, you will first have to initiate the Regional Phenomena main quest and complete at least one main objective in that quest. Completing the Rito region or the Zora region is the easiest, but you can go about this in any order.

Before completing one temple, you will not be able to interact with the mini Stable even though you can see the quest-giver NPCs hanging around the broken Stable. Lookout Landing is a constantly changing location that reflects your accomplishments by the completion level of its architecture. Once you're ready, head over to the two NPCs having a conversation near the Stable, and start a conversation with Karson. This will start the quest.

Complete The Incomplete Stable

When you talk to Karson, you will overhear a conversation between him and Lester, the older man, discussing how the Stable is almost complete and there is just a little bit of work left to do.

Karson will say that he needs to get the last of the roof planks properly fitted for the construction to be finally complete. At this point, it's your turn to finish the job. Jump on top of the roof of the Stable to see what you're working with. You will see a gap in the roof that needs to be filled in order for the roof to be complete.

Right away, you'll notice that there is an oddly shaped plank behind the Stable. From the top of the roof, activate your Ultrahand ability and lift the plank up. Position it so that it fits lengthwise into the hole in the roof. As soon as the plank is roughly aligned with the hole, you'll hear a chime signaling that the quest is complete.

Talk to Karson and Lester after the short cutscene, and you will have completed The Incomplete Stable side quest.
