You can enhance Link's armor at one of the four Great Fairy Fountains located around Hyrule. These fountains can be pretty hard to find and require a quest that connects them all together. Considering this can be difficult, this guide is here to help you figure out how to use the Great Fairy Fountains.

What Are Great Fairy Fountains?

The Great Fairy Fountains are home to the Great Fairies of Hyrule. These Fairies have been a staple in The Legend of Zelda series. They can work with Link to use materials he has gathered in order to upgrade his equipment. This will not only enhance the Defense of your armor, but you can also get unique perks by upgrading whole sets. However, it seems that right before Link found the Great Fairy Fountains, something scared all the Great Fairies into their pods. You must work with a band known as The Stable Trotters to convince the Great Fairies to leave their pods and bless the Kingdom of Hyrule with their talents once again. The locations of the four Great Fairies are as follows

  • Great Fairy Tera - Near Woodlands Stable
  • Great Fairy Mija - Near Snowfield Stable
  • Great Fairy Kaysa - Near Outskirt Stable
  • Great Fairy Cotera - Near Dueling Peaks Stable

If you travel to the Woodland Stable located within Eldin Canyon, you will find two people performing behind the stable. They will say they have a story that can only be told by the Lucky Clover Gazette. You must talk to the editor of this paper and start the quest "Potential Princess Sightings!" This is the quest where you travel with Penn, a reporter, and investigate rumors of Princess Zelda around the different stables in Hyrule.

After speaking to the Lucky Clover Gazette, you will notice that Penn is now speaking to the duo when you return to the stables. They will tell you they want to serenade the Great Fairy Tera and have her exit her pod. Apparently, Princess Zelda (or someone who looks like her) told them they needed to hide away, so all the Great Fairies are in hiding.

The two will say they cannot reach the Great Fairy due to their wagon being broken. Use your Ultrahand Ability to add some wheels to the wagon and then attach it to one of your horses using a harness. Harnesses can be received at any stable after obtaining 2 Pony Points. If you don't have enough, you can sleep at the stable, earning you a Pony Point.

Luckily, you can use the nearby items to create a way for him to escape. Attach the balloons, Zonai Fire Emitter, and plank to his wagon. This will allow his wagon to float out of the pit. Be sure to stand at the top and use your Ultrahand Ability to ensure he doesn't go too high. Once he is out of the pit, he will go join the others. He will also give you 3 Courser Bee Honey as a reward, do not use this. It will be needed later in the quest.

Then Pyper will ask you to bring Haite to the trees where they will be playing the flute. Once this has been completed, Pyper will join the others back at the Outskirt Stable. (Tip: If Haite is asleep or the weather is bad, ask to stay the night at the stables and sleep until night. This will allow you to speak to her.)

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Great Fairy Blocked Path

Once you return to the band of four, they will say that the path to the Great Fairy Kaysa is blocked. You can either attach the wagon to the Zonai car nearby or attach the wagon to your horse and take the long way around to Kaysa. Either way, once you reach her, they will begin playing.

Heading to the chasm, you will find a forest. Travel around the forest until you find a bee hive you can shoot down with your arrows. Make sure to grab it quickly as the bees will attack you for knocking down their hive. Once you have the honey, return to Beetz, and he will join the others.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Great Fairy Cross the river

Returning to the band once more, they will tell you that they cannot reach the Great Fairy Cotera due to the fact that the bridge is out. The band will travel toward the river, and you can meet them over there. Once there, use a wooden plank from nearby and attach their wagon to it. Then attach two fans and a battery to the back. These can be found near the bridge on the rock formations. Once you have done this, you can attach a steering device to the front. Then all you need to do is ask them to hop on and use your Ultrahand Ability to move them into the water. From there, just hit the fans and travel across.
