Throughout the world of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Link will stumble across a lot of interesting devices made by the mysterious ancient civilization known as the Zonai. This civilization has left remnants all over the surface of Hyrule and has left whole areas untouched in the sky.

While exploring what the Zonai has to offer, you may come across something known as the Zonai Wing Glider. While this isn't as useful as Link's paraglider, it is obtained much earlier in the game than that is. These wing gliders can be extremely helpful if you know how to use them.

Updated by Erin Rice on June 12, 2023: This update included relevant information pertaining to the Zonai Wing Gliders that was found out after the writing of this article. It also added the locations of the Zonai Dispensers in the starting zone, so readers could obtain some Zonai Wing Gliders. Finally, it added some relevant links for guides that readers may find helpful during their playthrough.

How To Use The Zonai Wing Glider

When you first discover the Zonai Wing Gliders all over the introductory zone, you may wonder how you're even supposed to use them. After you have obtained the Fusion Ability and the Ultrahand Ability, you are able to use these. You can find them scattered throughout the area. They are devices that have been created by the Zonai to help them with their civilization. You can also create some at the Zonai Device Dispenser machine. Once you have your wing glider, you will need to obtain a Zonai Fan. Once again, these can be obtained throughout the area or at the Zonai Device Dispenser machine.

With the two items, you will use the Fusion Ability to attach the fan to the wing glider. Make sure that the wind from the fan is pointing away from the wing glider. Adding the fan isn't necessarily required, but it does help a lot with controlling the wing glider, the length it will travel, and the speed it will go.

Once you have completed that, use the Ultrahand Ability to move the wing glider onto the tracks (as shown in the picture) that line the area. Make sure you are quick, as you will want to jump onto the wing glider as soon as you let it down on the tracks. (If you mess up, you can always use the Rewind Ability to try again.)

Once you hit the fan with a weapon, it will begin to blow air. This will make the wing glider travel must faster. Do not worry if the fan runs out of power, the wing glider is able to continue flying without it. Without the fan, it just won't go as quickly or as far.

Where you stand will determine which way the wind glider flies. If you stand on the left wing, it will go left. Standing on the right wing makes it go right. If you stand on the tip, it will begin to descend. Finally, standing in the middle makes it stay steady.

The Zonai Wing Glider will disappear after being in the air for a little over a minute. If you see the device start blinking green, get ready to fall.

Zonai Device Dispensers On Great Sky Island

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Dispenser Great Sky Island East

The first Zonai Device Dispenser that players will probably find is the one located near the Zonai Wing Gliders. This Zonai Device Dispenser also dispenses Zonai Wing Gliders to anyone who is wanting to have some in their inventory.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Dispenser Great Sky Island South

The second Zonai Device Dispenser is near the same area. Once you beat the fourth Shrine in the starting zone, you'll be close to this Zonai Device Dispenser. While it doesn't offer Zonai Wing Gliders, it is still nice to know it is there.
