While exploring Hyrule within The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you may come across different items that you just aren't sure what they are for or how they can be used. With such a large game, it can be difficult to figure out where to even take things in order to use them.

One such type of item that you may come across during your time within The Depths of Hyrule is the many Poes you can collect. When you pick them up, the description doesn't necessarily tell you what to do with them — other than that, you can trade them. This guide will tell you all about them and what they're good for.

Updated by Erin Rice on July 24, 2023: After exploring The Depths in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you may begin to notice that areas in The Depths are easier to find Poes in than others. This added those locations to a section. It also added some relevant links.

What Are Poes?

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom all Poes

While exploring The Depths, you can find blue flames floating around. These are known as Poes. Their description says, "A glowing spirit orb found all over the Depths. Offer these to a Bargainer Statue for a variety of rewards."

The Bargainer Statutes will describe the Poes as being wandering spirits. These spirits are found all over the place and can be exchanged for different items. You can find regular Poes, which offer 1 Poe. You can also find Large Poes that offer 5 Poes. The last type of Poe is the Grand Poe, which offers 20 Poes.

Where To Find Poes

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Poe

Poes are found within The Depths. It seems that they are in certain locations around the map. You can find them scattered around the area. They are more prevalent around the many different abandoned mines and at the bottom of chasms. You are also bound to find some sitting around the Monster camps in The Depths. Their bright blue color makes them stand out against the darkness in The Depths.

Do Poes Respawn?

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Poe in the Depths

One important quest about farming Poes is if they respawn or not. Thankfully, they do have fixed locations, meaning that if you were to leave and come back to The Depths, you could find them in the same places. This makes it easier to farm a lot of Poes at once. They will respawn every 2 days in-game. However, it seems that resting at a fire or sleeping at an inn does not speed this process up. If you leave The Depths and go exploring for a while, you can come back to find more Poes.

Tips On Finding Poes

Poes can be found throughout The Depths. The Large Poes and Grand Poes can sometimes be difficult to find, making it seem like a long time before you amass a good amount of Poes. If you want to make this quicker, there are a few things you can try. If you travel to any of the larger abandoned mines, you can find a ton of Poes on top of these areas. You'll need to use your Ascend Ability to reach these areas. There are 10 of these mines in total.

  1. Abandoned Hebra Mine (below Rito Village)
  2. Abandoned Eldin Mine (below Goron City)
  3. Abandoned Tarrey Mine (below Tarrey Town)
  4. Abandoned Kakariko Mine (below Kakariko Village)
  5. Abandoned Kara Kara Mine (below Kara Kara Bazaar)
  6. Abandoned Gerudo Mine (below Gerudo Town)
  7. Great Abandoned Central Mine (below the Temple of Time Ruins on the Great Plateau)
  8. Abandoned Lurelin Mine (below Lurelin Village)
  9. Abandoned Hateno Mine (below Hateno Village)
  10. Abandoned Lanayru Mine (below Mount Lanayru)

Additionally, if you are traveling around The Depths, you can use different methods to shield surf over the Gloom, so you don't lose Hearts.

Best Farming Places For Poes

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Grand Poe

If you want to farm for Poes but don't know where to start, you can travel to The Depths below Central Hyrule. While Poes seem to be scattered around randomly, there is an abundance in this region that doesn't seem to be in any other region, making it the best place to farm for Poes that isn't an Abandoned Mine.

What Are Bargainer Statues?

The Bargainer Statues are where you can trade Poes for items. You will find your first one in Lookout Landing. It is over by Robbie and Josha. When you approach it, all it will say is "Poes..."

Once you have found Poes in The Depths, you can bargain with it. When speaking to it, it will tell you of its brethren. These are other Bargainer Statues that are hidden within The Depths. You can find 6 of these there, making seven total (including the one in Lookout Landing).

Bargainer Statue Locations

As mentioned above, there are 6 other Bargainer Statues located within The Depths. Each one is found in a different spot and offers different items to purchase.

Some of the Bargainer Statues can be difficult to reach. Throughout The Depths, you will find areas that have Zonai Materials. You can use these to get around. The best Zonai-Fused vehicle for exploring is the Hoverbike.

Great Abandoned Central Mine

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Central Mine Bargainer Statue

This Bargainer Statue can be found on the bottom floor of the Great Abandoned Central Mine. You can take the elevator by the Forge Construct down, or you can jump down. Either way, this Bargainer Statue is right there. You will need to complete a short quest entitled "A Call From The Depths" in order to unlock this one. You can find that quest near the Temple of Time Ruins on the Great Plateau (not the one in the sky, but the one on the surface level). It is directly below these ruins. The closest chasm is the Great Plateau East Chasm. The closest Lightroot is the Nogukoyk Lightroot, which corresponds to the Kyokugon Shrine.

Wellspring Of Courage Bargainer Statue

The next Bargainer Statue is located at the Wellspring of Courage. This is close to the Muokuij Lightroot, which corresponds with the Jiukoum Shrine and the Construct Factory. It is directly below the Spring of Courage. The closest chasm to jump into to reach this area is the Hills of Baumer Chasm near the Popla Foothills Skyview Tower.

This Bargainer Statue is closest to the Stakijat Lightroot. This is the Lightroot that is directly beneath the Tajikats Shrine in Hyrule Field. The statue can be found in a location directly below the area between the Bottomless Pond and Whistling Hill. If you want the exact location, you can go to your Sky map and look at the center of the Temple of Time. This statue is located there in The Depths. The closest chasm to this Bargainer Statue is probably the Hyrule Fields Chasm. This is the first chasm that you enter in the game.

The closest chasm to it is the Naydra Snowfield Chasm. This is very close to Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower. The closest Lightroot would be the Usukaz Lightroot, which corresponds to the Zakusu Shrine. From it, you would need to descend into a pit to find the Wellspring.

This Bargainer Statue is found within the Wellspring of Power. This is directly below the Spring of Power. The closest Lightroot to this area is the Akinatanis Lightroot (directly underneath the Sinatanika Shrine). The closest Chasm is the Akkala Plains Chasm. You'll want to be careful adventuring around here. If you get too close to the area underneath Death Mountain, you will need to wear the Flamebreaker outfit.

The Flamebreaker armor set is not required to reach the Bargainer Statue.

Cliff Bargainer Statue

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Cliff Bargainer Statue

This Bargainer Statue is by far the most difficult to get to. It is toward the top part of The Depths, close to where the chasms open up in the ceiling. To reach it, you'll need to do a lot of climbing. It is recommended that you bring your own stamina-replenishing supplies. You can also create some Zonai vehicles to reach it. The closest Lightroot is the Yisuayam Lightroot. It is directly below the Mayausiy Shrine. The closest chasm is the Drenan Highlands Chasm, which is located close to the Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower.

Lookout Landing Bargainer Statue

The final of the seven Bargainer Statues is, of course, the one in Lookout Landing. Oddly enough, this Bargainer Statue will offer to trade you all the other Bargainer Statues items, but it will not trade you for the Amiibo sets. You must go to one in The Depths for those.
