Exploration is key in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom to discover new areas, unlock new chests, and earn new items. The game's massive world features dozens of caves, but not all of them are lit as default.
This is why you are advised to collect as many Brightbloom Seeds as you can. While carrying a torch is already a good portable light, sometimes you wish there was enough light to let you see all corners of a cave. That's when Brightbloom Seeds come in handy.

How To Use Brightbloom Seed
Using a Brightbloom Seed is quite simple. Hold "Up" on your D-Pad, hover over Brightbloom Seed, and press "X" to drop one onto the ground. Now, perform an attack on the Brightbloom Seed, and all of a sudden you will see all your surroundings are lightened.
There is also another way to plant a Brightbloom Seed if you want to place it somewhere that you can't really perform a smash on. In this case, press "Plus," hover over Brightbloom Seed, press "A," and then select "Hold." Now, press "Y" to exit from the inventory. Hold "R" and move your cursor toward the place you want to plant the seed at, then release it to throw the seed. This way, the seed will automatically lighten the area with no need for a smash.
If your throwing cannot reach the place you want to lighten, then you need to attach Brightbloom Seed to an arrow and shoot it to your target location. Make sure you have a bow equipped, and then hold down "RZ." Now, hold "Up" on D-Pad and hover over Brightbloom Seed. Release the "Up" button and shoot the arrow to your target location to lighten its surroundings.
Brightbloom Seeds cannot be moved or collected once you plant them, but they will remain lit permanently. A Brightbloom's lighting range is much more than a torch, which is why it is quite useful in caves with big open areas where you need to explore all corners.
Where To Find Brightbloom Seeds
Brightbloom Seeds can be found inside caves. They are glowing flowers that are visible even if the cave is completely dark. There is also a Giant version of Brightbloom Seed that is harder to find, but it lightens a much larger area compared to the normal version. A useful place to pick some of them up, while getting a lot of other useful items is the Royal Hidden Passage.
