Collectibles in RPGs are staples for a reason. They keep the player engaged in the game, giving them something to do with their time in the world. In Tears of the Kingdom, collectibles come in many different flavors, so players always have something new to choose from.

The Stone Tablets scattered around Hyrule give players a reason to explore the Sky Islands beyond farming for Sundelions and hunting for Sage's Wills. Finding all Stone Tablet locations is an involved process that takes you to every single region of Hyrule and to the Sky Islands above.

Starting The Quest

Stone Tablets are tied to a quest that begins in Lookout Landing called "Messages from an Ancient Era." To begin this quest, you will first need to unlock the Camera by completing the "Camera Work In The Depths" quest and unlocking the Camera function. After you have unlocked it, go to Lookout Landing, and you'll see a fallen Stone Tablet beside the Emergency Shelter entrance.

Talk to Wortsworth, the Ancient Hyrulian Text expert, to begin the quest. Wortsworth will task you with finding 12 Stone Tablets scattered across the world and taking pictures of every one of them with your Camera.

Visit Kakariko Village

To progress the quest further, you'll need to first visit Wortsworth in Kakariko Village and talk to him. Find him in the center of the village, just beside the Zonai Survey Team Base, in an open house built into the cliff face.

Talk to him, and he'll say that there are 12 more Stone Tablets to be found around Hyrule containing more information about Hyrule's past. Find all Stone Tablets, and he will reward you (100 Rupees Per Tablet).

Stone Tablet #1: West Hebra Sky Archipelago (4046, 3197, 0447)

Teleport to the Rospro Pass Skyview Tower and use it to reach the Sky area. Look northwest, and you'll see three islands floating together in the Sky. Head towards the nearest island, and you should be able to easily land on it. There is a floating platform with a balloon and fire emitter attached to it right beside the island. Climb on top of the platform and activate the flame emitter to reach the main island, and you'll reach the Ijo-o Shrine.

Use the mechanism in the island's center to reach the highest island. Go to the northmost part of the small island to find a chest containing an Old Map. Climb the wall behind this chest, and you'll see a star-shaped island just below. Most Stone Tablets can be found on these star-shaped islands in the Sky. Jump off the main and use your paraglider to reach the small island.

Once there, you'll see a stone tablet on the island, activate your Camera and take a picture of the stone tablet. If you don't see a quest marker in the camera view, you're not taking the picture correctly.

Stone Tablet #2: East Hebra Sky Archipelago (-1376, 3576, 0904)

Use the Pikida Stonegrove Skyview Tower to make the jump. Head towards the Taninuod Shrine on the East Hebra Sky Archipelago Island to the north. On the main island, right in front of the shrine, you'll find an automatic shoving mechanism installed at the center of the island. This mechanism is already perfectly aligned to direct Link toward a star-shaped island in the distance. Use the mechanism to give yourself some height and reach the star island. You'll find another stone tablet on the island. Take a picture of the stone tablet using your Camera.

Stone Tablet #3: North Hyrule Sky Archipelago (-0040, 2994, -0617)

Take the Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower, and you will see a star-shaped island to the west. Walk to the main column where the stone tablet is located, and the stone tablet will immediately start to fall down.

The stone tablet will fall through the Drenan Highlands Chasm and land inside the Depths. Dive after the Stone Tablet and reach it at the bottom of the chasm to take a picture with the Camera.

Stone Tablet #4: Sokkala Sky Archipelago (3577, 1748, 1354)

Teleport to the Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower and use it to rise to the Sky Islands. Head southwest and you will see a bunch of Sky Islands clumped up together. The Stone Tablet Island is high up, and you can't reach it directly. First, land on the far side of the island with the Flux Construct.

You'll see an already assembled Zonai flying device with a bunch of batteries lying around. Attach all the batteries to the flying device and use the steering wheel to rise up to a higher altitude. There, find the star-shaped island and land on it. Take a picture of the stone slab with your Camera.

Stone Tablet #5: Lanayru Sky Archipelago (2912, 0199, 0215)

Teleport to the Upland Zorana Skyview Tower and use it to rise high. Turn yourself southward, and you'll see another Stone Tablet Island that's quite close by. Land on the island and stand in front of the stone tablet.

Like the North Hyrule Sky Island, this one will also come apart and start falling down. Dive after it, and you'll be able to land on it near Ralis Pond. Take a picture using the Camera to complete this part of the quest.

Stone Tablet #6: South Lanayru Sky Archipelago (3918, -2467, 0009)

Use the Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower and head directly southward. You'll see the stone tablet island far into the distance. To reach it, you'll need about two and a half stamina bars and have Tulin unlocked.

The island is extremely far from where you start, and it might be advisable to bring stamina elixirs to make the journey easier. Once you land on the island, the stone tablet will start to fall. It will land on the left edge of Hateno Bay. Reach the tablet and take a Camera picture.

Stone Tablet #7: South Eldin Sky Archipelago (2214, 0990, 1142)

Use the Eldin Canyon Skyview Tower to reach the archipelago just above it. You'll see a network of Sky Islands to the east, and just past them is the Stone Tablet Island. If you have Tulin unlocked, you can directly reach the star-shaped island without landing anywhere, but if not, use one of the main islands as a jumping pad to reach the island with the stone tablet. Take a Camera picture to add this tablet to your tally.

Stone Tablet #8: Necluda Sky Archipelago (2085, -2371, 0317)

Use the Rabella Wetlands Skyview Tower and rise into the Sky Islands. You'll see the Stone Tablet Island above you to the west with a waterfall island beside it. To reach this island, you will need two things, the components to make a hot air balloon and the Zora Armor.

Reach the waterfall island and climb to its surface using the waterfall swimming ability of Zora Armor. From this island's surface, create a hot air balloon to rise high into the Sky until you're above the stone tablet island. Jump off the hot air balloon and reach the island. The stone tablet will fall down below to Mount Floria. Go after it and take a picture.

Stone Tablet #9: West Necluda Sky Archipelago (0487, -2242, 0397)

Use the Popla Foothills Skyview Tower to reach the Sky. The Stone Tablet Island is just to the southwest down below. You can easily reach it by paragliding. Take a picture using the Camera, and you're done.

Stone Tablet #10: South Hyrule Sky Archipelago (-1241, -1934, 0979)

Use the Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower and paraglide northeast until you reach the East Gerudo Sky Archipelago. In the central island that has the shrine, use the automatic pushing mechanism and orient it northeast.

Use it to give yourself some airtime and head toward the Stone Tablet Island you see just down below. Land on the island and take a picture of the stone tablet using your Camera.

Stone Tablet #11: East Gerudo Sky Archipelago (-2445, -3248, 0997)

Use the Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower and orient yourself southwest. The Stone Tablet Island is far away in the distance, and the only way to get to it is to have about two and a half bars of stamina and paraglide. Either upgrade your stamina bar or have some stamina elixirs on hand to make the journey.

When you land on the island, the stone tablet will fall away toward the ground. It will land just beside the Siwakama Shrine in the Gerudo Desert. Take a picture using your Camera to mark this tablet done as well.

Stone Tablet #12: North Gerudo Sky Archipelago (-3604, -0932, 1586)

Use the Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower to rise to the Sky Islands. Paraglide northeast towards the island with the large pond in the middle. The Stone Tablet Island is hidden just under this island, so jump off from its northern side to find it.

When you reach it, the Stone Tablet will start to fall down toward the surface. It will land between two mountains in the Gerudo Highlands. Take a picture, and you will have found all Stone Tablet locations.

Completing Messages From An Ancient Era Quest

Once you have all the Stone Tablet pictures in your Compendium, you can return to Wortsworth in Kakariko Village to complete the quest. For each Stone Tablet, Wortsworth will translate the text and give Link a reward of 100 Rupees. For all 12 Stone Tablets, you will receive 1200 Rupees in total.

After you've gathered every last tablet, you will also receive a unique paraglider fabric called the Zonai Survey Team Fabric. With this, you'll have found all Stone Tablet Locations and completed the Messages from an Ancient Era quest.
