The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has plenty of quests outside of the main quest line. These can fetch you all manner of rewards and just be really fun to play between main quests.
Some of them can be a bit tricky to figure out, while others are a pure test of skill and how fast you can react to certain mechanics in the game.
The First Ice Square
To start, you will want to be on the South Side of the Squabble River on your map. Align yourself with the “v” in Squabble River on your map, and then head directly south. You will come to a large stone structure with a Steward Construct NPC inside it. You will also notice there are diamond-shaped indents along one of the walls. Talk to this NPC, which is standing near the left wall.
Turn around to face the right wall, and you will see some shelves. On these shelves are some Zonai Devices, including a Frost Emitter and a Flame Emitter. You will need the Frost Emitter first. Pick up the Frost Emitter and head to the nearby body of water. Use the Frost Emitter in short bursts to make Ice Squares. Once the first Ice Square is made, switch to your Ultrahand to pick it up.
Bring this Ice Square back to the Steward Construct, and place it into the first diamond-shaped indent. Each time you place the right-sized ice in the wall, the structure with the indent will move down into the ground.
The Second Ice Square
This square will need to be smaller than the first, so we will need to melt it a bit. To accomplish this, grab the Flame Emitter mentioned earlier and use it to ignite the small campfire by the stone structure you are at. Go back to the water and make a second Ice Square. Bring this second square to the campfire and briefly move it towards and away to have it shrink. Use this slightly smaller square in the second indent.
The Third Ice Square And Completing The Quest
Repeat the process from the second square. However, you will need to make it even smaller this time. This can take you a couple of tries, and you can always make another square if the one you have melted too much.
Once the third square fits into the third indent, a cutscene will play and you will have completed the quest.
