Challenges and minigames cleverly hidden around the world in Tears of the Kingdom amplify the game’s core features: exploration and discovery. Finding new armor sets and unlocking a hidden Shrine are some of the most satisfying feelings a player can get in Hyrule.
Courage Island is a Sky Island that is accessible quite early on in the game with a juicy reward at the end. Players will need to employ their best diving skills to clear the Island Challenge and come out victorious.
Reaching Courage Island
Courage Island is a Sky Island you can reach as soon as you unlock Lindor’s Brow Skyview Tower. The island coordinates are -2338, 0784, 0609. To get to Courage Island, launch yourself from Lindor’s Brow Skyview Tower and orient yourself towards the ring of islands stacked on top of each other to the southwest. Paraglide towards the very top of the ring structure, and you should be able to reach it fairly easily.
Completing Courage Island
Courage Island houses the Gliding mini-game and a shrine you can unlock by completing the mini-game one time. There are three tiers to the Gliding Challenge mini-game and you can complete all three as soon as you get to the island.
Unlocking The Taunhiy Shrine
From the top of the island, walk forward towards the pathway that leads to the edge. Before reaching it, you’ll see a green teleport symbol inside an archway. Press A to activate it and proceed. As soon as you activate the fast-travel point, a small cutscene will play, directing you toward the edge of the island.
Head towards the edge, and you’ll see a green ring appearing in front of you. You’ll be prompted to jump by pressing A. Do so, and you will naturally step through the green ring and begin your dive.
At this point, you don’t need to worry about time; you just need to make sure you pass through the green rings on your way down. You’ll fall into a pool on the last island when you pass through the last ring. A small cutscene will play to show the Taunhiy Shrine appearing out of thin air. Now, you can head inside to complete this shrine. Or continue with the Courage Island Challenge.
Unlocking The Glide Shirt
Talk to the Steward Construct standing by the side of the pool, and he will inform you of the Courage Island minigame. The goal is to go back to the top of the island and jump down through the green rings again but this time as fast as possible. The fastest time wins.
The Steward will ask for a Zonai charge to begin the challenge. Give the charge, and you will teleport to the top of the island again, and you can start the challenge again.
For this attempt, your goal is to get a time below 35 seconds. Dive again and use the paraglider as little as possible to shave off the time. If you manage to get a time below 35 seconds, a short cutscene will play, and you will unlock the Glide Shirt. The Glide Shirt is part of the Glide Set. It comes with 2 base defense and provides better Skydive Mobility if worn.
Additional Rewards
After unlocking the Glide Shirt, you can talk to the Steward again to start the Courage Island Challenge again. This time, the target is to get a time below 20 seconds. Wear the Glide Shirt to make it easier on yourself and repeat the challenge. It will cost a single Zonai charge for every attempt.
If you manage to get a time below 20 seconds, you will be rewarded with a Large Zonai Charge. Every time you break your own record, you will receive another Large Zonai Charge. With this, you will have completed the Courage Island quest line.
