You will wonder which one is the case with The White Bird’s Guidance, which sees Link helping a member of the Rito Village. It involves the sighting of a mysterious bird and tasks you with getting down to the bottom of it.

Starting The Quest

TotK - Link Speaking with Laissa

You can start this quest by going to the Rito Village in the northwest area of the map. It is likely the first place you will go to when working through the Regional Phenomena quest line, and has you taking on the Wind Temple with Tulin. Once the temple has been completed and the blizzard has cleared, you can find Laissa near the top of the village.

In speaking with her, she will explain to you that while she was perched on top of the village peak in the early morning, she spotted a white bird in the distance, and next to the bird was a cave that held something sounding really similar to a Shrine. Those are all the details you need in order to get started on this quest and get to the bottom of the white bird mystery.

Completing The Quest

TotK - The White Bird Near Rito Village

The first thing you need to do for this quest is to climb to the top of the village peak, where Laissa was perched when she saw the bird. Use the stairs around the peak to get as high as you can, and then climb up the rest of the way. It's not very tall, so you won't have to worry about running out of stamina as you climb.

Once you get to the top of Rito Village, depending on the time, you may have to wait awhile. Laissa mentioned in her dialogue that she saw the bird early in the morning, so if you are at the peak in the evening or night, build yourself a fire to pass the time until the morning. You are looking for 6:00 to be able to see the bird, so keep an eye on the time in the lower right corner of the screen.

When it is 6:00 in the morning, watch the shadow of the peak on the landscape outside the village. When the hour reaches 6:00, you will see that the shadow of the peak touches a part of a nearby mountain that resembles the outline of a white bird. So that settles it: the white bird itself is not a real bird, but that doesn't change what Laissa said about the Shrine in the cave.

It's time to glide over to the white bird outline on the mountain from the peak, and once you reach the spot, you will find a cave entrance right there for you to enter. In the cave, you will find not only the Shrine but also a Bubbulfrog that you can take out to get a Bubbul Gem.
