Despite being one of the farthest locations from where you start your journey in Tears of the Kingdom, Lurelin Village makes its presence known quite early on. Refugees from the now-destroyed village are spread out over the entire map and make their longing for their original home known if you talk to them.
Luckily, there is a very real solution. You can travel to the northeastermost part of the map to find the village and help its residents bring it back to its former glory by completing a series of quests. The Ruffian-Infested Village is the first quest to get the village back on its feet.
Start Ruffian-Infested Village Quest
When you reach the Lurelin Village for the first time, you’ll see two NPCs standing beside the Sifumim Shrine with a quest marker on them. Talk to them to begin the quest. The Coordinates for this location are 2813, -3278, 0077.
You’ll talk to Bolson and the town mayor talking about the current state of Lurelin Village. You’ll learn that the village has been overrun by a horde of monsters acting like pirates. The monsters have taken over the entire village and scared everyone away. They will ask for your help riding the Lurelin Village of the monsters. Say yes, and the quest, Ruffian-Infested Village” will begin.
Lurelin Village Monster Locations
Remember, you have to kill every single monster in the village. Leaving even just one monster to roam about will result in the quest remaining incomplete. The monsters are spread out in the village, but here are their general locations.
- Inside the large pirate ship docked at the bay.
- Spread out across the village, near buildings.
- At the port.
- Inside the Lurelin Village Well.

How To Defeat The Monsters In Lurelin Village
There are about 20 bokoblins, lizalfos, and a boss bokoblin in the village. Here are some tips to take them out quickly.
- Bring at least three or four strong melee weapons and about 30-40 arrows.
- Save your strongest melee weapon for the boss bokoblin.
- Try to land headshots as much as possible.
- Use muddle buds and puffshrooms to make group fights easier.
- Use the Bomb Barrels and fuse them to your shield to deal massive damage.
- You can push enemies into the water for an instant kill.
- Use Flurry Rush to thin out a group.
After you’ve cleaned up all monsters in the village, you might be left wondering why the last sliver of health on the monster horde health bar isn’t going down. This is because you haven’t killed all of the monsters yet. Most likely, you’ve missed the bokoblin down in the Lurelin Village Well.
Head over to the well and jump down to find a lone bokoblin sitting by a fire. Defeat him, and a small cutscene will play, signifying you’ve completed the Ruffian-Infested Village quest.
Bolson, the mayor, and all the villagers still remaining in the village will gather at the village entrance and celebrate the return of their village. Talk to Bolson again after they’re done, and you can begin the next quest to restore the Lurelin Village to its former glory: the Lurelin Village Restoration Project.
