Side Quests in Tears of the Kingdom play a huge part in tying the lore of Hyrule into a cohesive whole that makes it feel like a living, breathing world. The game does an excellent job of sucking the players into the game world without coming off as formulaic.
The Feathered Fugitives Quest puts Links in charge of finding a bunch of lost Cuccos that have escaped from their pen and returning them to their original spot. Is there anything more quintessentially Zelda?
Starting The Feathered Fugitives Quest
To start the Feathered Fugitives, you will first have to complete the Gourmets Gone Missing side quest that’s part of the Princess Zelda Sightings! chain quest to earn the Froggy Armor Set. Once you have completed the prerequisite quest, you can head over to the Riverside Stable to find Teli standing beside a Cucco pen, looking worried.
Walk up to Teli and press A to interact to start the Feathered Fugitives Quest. Teli will tell you that he was hungry for some bird eggs, so he entered the pen to get some. Unluckily, 5 out of the 6 Cuccos that were originally in the pen escaped.
He will ask Link to find the missing Cuccos that have flapped themselves away to nearby locations. Since they’re Cuccos, they can’t have gone far, so you only need to look in the immediate area around the Riverside Stable to find them. Here are their locations.
All Cucco Locations In The Feathered Fugitives
-
Just outside the Cucco pen, you’ll see a Cucco by a thin stream of water behind the dog.
-
Inside the Stable, right beside Beedle, the vendor.
-
On top of the Stable head, use Ascend to reach the Cucco and pick it up. If you jump with a Cucco in your hands, its wings will start flapping, functioning like a mini-paraglider.
-
In the tree on the southern side of the Stable. The one that’s directly behind the wooden planks and wheels station behind the Stable on the main road.
-
In the middle of the river, on a small rocky formation that’s jutting out of the water. Use the wooden planks near the Stable to fashion a makeshift bridge from the rock formation to the pen area. Pick up the Cucco and walk back to the pen to finish the Feathered Fugitives Quest.
After you’ve completed the Feathered Fugitives Quest, Tali will give you a one-time reward of 100 Rupees for bailing him out of trouble once again.
