To get the White Sword of the Sky without using Amiibo, you will have to complete The Mother Goddess Statue Quest. You can start this quest by interacting with any of three large goddess statues scattered across Hyrule or going to the source itself: The Forgotten Temple. These larger Goddess Statues are different from the regular goddess statues you use to increase Link's health and stamina or power up a sage’s abilities.

Updated by Hamza Haq on July 6th, 2023: Crafting the White Sword of the Seven is an involved process that will see you traveling to all corners of Hyrule in search of rare materials that cannot be farmed just be exploring regularly. New links have been added to make this journey easier for players and give more context. We've also fixed the image detailing Farosh's route to be more accurate in light of new information.

Starting The Quest

To start the Mother Goddess Statue Quest properly, travel to the Forgotten Temple by using the Mayausiy Shrine (or the Lindor's Brow Skyview Tower if you haven't unlocked it yet). This is also where you need to go to progress the Impa and the Geoglyphs questline.

There is a large toppled Goddess Statue just past the archway in front of the shrine (-1070, 2656, -0084). Interact with the Mother Goddess Statue, and you will see a short line of text but little else. This will start the Mother Goddess Statue Quest.

To undertake this quest, you will have to visit three Goddess Statues and give each of them one Dragon Claw from one of the roaming Dragons that fly over Hyrule.

There are three subquests in total:

  • Goddess of Wisdom Quest (Find Naydra's Claw)
  • Goddess of Courage Quest (Find Farosh's Claw)
  • Goddess of Power Quest (Find Dinraal's Claw)

After you finish these three quests, return to the Mother Goddess Statue to find it restored, and you will receive the White Sword of the Sky as a reward.

If you've already visited the other Statues scattered around Hyrule, you'll get an update in their quest logs once you interact with the toppled Mother Goddess statue.

Even though you can technically start their respective quests by visiting them before going to the Forgotten Temple, you can't progress those quests without having made the pilgrimage to the large toppled statue first.

Goddess Statue Of Wisdom Quest

Immediately to the east of Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower, you'll find a pond of water with the statue inside (3919, -1332, 0466). Interact with the Goddess Statue there. It will ask you about the Mother Goddess Statue. If you haven't visited the Mother Goddess Statue in the Forgotten Temple, this statue will ask you to find it first before returning to it.

But, if you're all caught up, the statue will ask you to find Naydra's Claw.

How To Get Naydra's Claw

Naydra follows a pre-set path starting from the Naydra Snowfield Chasm that's rght under the shadow of Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower and ending at the East Hill Chasm behind Kakariko Village. You can either wait for Naydra to emerge from the Naydra Snowfield Chasm or find it somewhere along its route. We found him in the depths at around 2:00 pm near a lightroot.

Naydra emits a freezing aura around him that can freeze you if you get caught in it. Bring cold resistance clothes like the Snowquill Set or some cold resistance food to avoid losing health as you approach him.

Once you're ready, find Naydra and reach him by using the paraglider near him and riding the updraft. If Naydra is too high up when you see him, you can easily reach him by using a flying Zonai vehicle if you have one saved in Autobuild.

When you're in range, use a bow to shoot a single arrow at one of Naydra's Claws—it doesn't matter which one. The Claw will fall down, emitting a strong radiance as it falls down, just like a Star Fragment.

Follow it down and avoid losing sight of it as it falls. Interact with the Claw on the ground by pressing A, and you'll get Naydra's Claw.

Now, head back to the Goddess Statue to complete the quest. Drop Naydra's Claw in front of the statue in the springwater and wait for a small cutscene to finish to indicate you've successfully completed the Goddess Statue Of Wisdom Quest.

Dragons also drop other items like Scales and Horns if you hit the right spot with a weapon. However, if you farm a Scale, you will need to wait 10 minutes to get the Claw from a dragon. The spikes on the back lose their glow and become dull after losing a scale. Wait 10 minutes for these spikes to regain their luster before attempting to get more materials from them. Or reload.

Goddess Statue Of Power Quest

North of Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower, head to the coordinates 3757, 2674, 0002 and interact with the Goddess Statue there. It will ask you about the Mother Goddess Statue, and Link will inform it about the toppled statue. Exhaust its dialogue, and you will be asked to bring the statue Dinraal's Claw.

How To Get Dinraal's Claw

Dinraal follows a route along the East Akkala Region, beginning at the East Akkala Plains Chasm near the Sinatanika Shrine and ending at the chasm behind Thyphlo Ruins Skyview Tower.

You can usually find him emerging from the east chasm at around 8:00 pm. Dinraal constantly emits unbearably hot flames from his body, so you'll need fire resistance to get close to him. You can buy the Flamebreaker Armor Set from Goron City or make some fire resistance food.

Once you're ready and see him exiting the chasm, jump inside and ride the updraft using your paraglider to climb on top of him. To get Dinraal's Claw, you will have to shoot his Claw using a bow with a single arrow (multi-shot bows don't work).

The Claw will drop down, emitting a bright light to indicate its travel path. Dive after it to avoid losing sight. Press A to pick it up and head back to the Goddess Statue to hand it over.

Drop Dinraal's Claw at the statue's feet (in the water), and a small cutscene will play. With this, the Goddess Statue Of Power Quest will be marked complete.

If a Dragon manages to fly too far away and you miss it, it's advisable to travel to another fast-travel location that's far enough away that you cannot see it and travel back to the nearest fast-travel point after waiting a day. If you use the in-game waiting mechanic of creating a fire and interacting with it, the dragon will not travel any distance since it will not travel while it's in render range.

Goddess Statue Of Courage Quest

From the Popla Foothills Skyview Tower, head southeast to the coordinates 0875, -2362, 0017 and interact with the large Goddess Statue to start this quest. Talk to it about the Mother Goddess Statue in the Forgotten Temple, and it will ask you to bring it Farosh's Claw.

How To Get Farosh's Claw

Map screenshot showing the dragon Farosh's route tears of the kingdom

Farosh starts his route from the East Gerudo Chasm near Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower and goes back to the Depths at the Hills of Baumer Chasm besides the Kamizun Shrine. We found him emerging from the East Gerudo Chasm at 10:30 pm, but you can find him anywhere along his route if you have the necessary fast-travel spots unlocked.

Unlike Dinraal and Naydra, Farosh doesn't require you to have any sort of resistance to approach him. However, be careful of the lightning balls that spin around his head, as they not only deal damage but also force Link to drop all his equipment.

Once you're ready, jump near him, activate your paraglider, and ride the updraft to get some height. Use your bow to activate time-slow and shoot at one of his claws with a single arrow. The Claw will fall down, so chase after it. Interact with it on the ground, and you will get Farosh's Claw.

split screen image of shooting Farosh's Claw and finding it on the ground totk

Go back to the quest-giver statue and drop Farosh's Claw in the spring in front of the statue, and a short cutscene will play, indicating you succeeded. The statue will reward you with a Topaz, and the Goddess Statue of Courage quest will be complete.

If you're having trouble getting a Dragon to spawn, fast-travel to a spot that is not near its route, make a hard save, and reload. Wait a full day by using a fire or a bed, then go back to its route to search for it.

Getting The White Sword Of The Sky

Naydra gliding through the depths totk-1

Once you've given all three dragon claws to their respective Goddess Statues, you can return to the Mother Goddess Statue to find it upright. It appears that bringing the Claws to the goddesses has restored the statue to a pristine state.

Talk to the statue after completing the Mother Goddess Statue Quest to receive the White Sword of the Sky as a reward.

Repairing The White Sword Of The Sky

Link Holding the white sword of the sky in inventory totk

Unlike the Master Sword, the White Sword of the Sky is breakable if you use it. But you can reforge this sword quite easily by going back to the Mother Goddess Statue with the original crafting material in hand. The Mother Goddess Statue in the Forgotten Temple will give you a new White Sword of the Sky if you give it Dinraal's Claw, Farosh's Claw, and Naydra's Claw as crafting material. If you don't have three Dragon Claws, you can also find a Rock Octorock to repair your weapon to pristine condition.
