In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you will come across a ton of different armor sets. Each set has a unique look, and some even offer some pretty great bonuses if you wear the full set. However, considering the world is so large, it can be difficult to find these items. So many sets have pieces scattered across the map rather than in one place.
One set of armor that is an amazing addition to your armory is the Zonaite armor set. This set is based on the ancient Zonai civilization that used to rule Hyrule. The set offers some amazing bonuses for anyone who loves Zonai Devices and has great defensive stats. It is certainly something you will want to pick up as soon as you can.
Updated by Erin Rice on May 30, 2023: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has experienced a lot of exciting discoveries since the original writing of this article. This update includes information regarding how the armor set can be used. It also added some links to help readers find more information on the items mentioned in the guide.
The Zonaite Set
The Zonaite set is an armor set that can be found throughout the Sky Islands that dot the skies of Hyrule. Each piece of armor has a base defense of 4. This means that the set itself has a base defense of 12. It can also be upgraded at the many Great Fairy Fountains throughout Hyrule. Its defense is also one of the best in the game, especially after being upgraded.
In addition, the set can also be dyed at the Hateno Village Dye Shop. The set bonus is one of the most useful in the game. Each piece offers you more Zonai Energy. This can be extremely useful for those who haven't increased their battery yet or for those who just use a lot of Zonai Devices throughout their gameplay. It will essentially double your battery. You will definitely see how well it works if you have a lot of battery. It can help you tremendously if you use Zonai Devices to get around The Depths.
The Zonaite Helm Location
In order to find the Zonaite Helm, you want to travel to the North Tabantha Sky Archipelago. This can be reached by using the Rospro Pass Skyview Tower. Once you're in the air, look for the island that has a waterfall coming down.
Make sure you switch your Zora Armor on before you reach the waterfall. This will allow you to swim up it with ease.
Once on the island, swim across the small pond. Keep heading around the area until you reach the end, where the mine carts are.
Put a mine cart on the tracks and add a rocket to it using your Ultrahand. Then just hop in the mine cart and hit the rocket.
You'll then end up on a small island with a couple of Zonai Gliders, rockets, and some fans. Attach the fans and rockets to the Zonai Glider and hop on. You can also use some of your own Zonai Batteries if you are worried about the distance. The rockets will let the Zonai Glider go over the lip of the runway and help you go fast for a little bit.
You want to head for the small island in the distance. Remember, you can point the glider up by standing near the tail. You can also jump and climb up the side of the island.
You will find two springs in this area. Attach them together and place them where you can see the large island up ahead. Once you have placed them, jump on them and hit them with your sword.
You'll land on the small island underneath the larger one. Use the wooden planks here to build a bridge. Then place the springs on the island onto the bridge. This will allow you to shoot through the hole on the upper island.
You want to aim for the small metal platform that has a Zonai Construct on it. Be careful here; this platform has multiple rockets on it. You don't want to hit them instead of the Construct.
Once the Construct is taken care of, use the rocket to shoot the platform into the air. You want to reach the large island off in the distance.
You want to be sure you're able to land on this island. Don't be afraid to ride the platform up as high as it goes. You can always glide down, but you can never glide up.
On the island, you will want to interact with the Zonai structure. This will allow the water around this island to recede. Then head for the large stone formation in the center of the island.
You will find a cave entrance that needs to be blown open. After opening it, head inside.
This portion of the area requires you to use Ultrahand to move mirrors around to reflect off one another.
You'll want to aim the first one in this direction and then head toward the second one.
This mirror needs to be angled like this. Then head to the next one.
The next mirror is angled like this.
This final mirror needs to be pointing straight.
Once you head toward this beam, you'll find a Zonai Construct. Take him out and pick up his Mirror Shield.
Then stand in the beam of light, so you can reflect the Mirror Shield toward the yellow light, turning it green.
The structure you're in will open. You can then find this area directly beside the green light.
Climbing up that side will lead you to a chest.
Inside the chest is the treasure you're looking for, the Zonaite Helm.
The Zonaite Waistguard Location
For this piece, you want to go to the Necluda Sky Archipelago. In order to reach this, travel to Mount Lanayru Skyview Tower and fly toward the island with the waterfall.
Once again, make sure you have your Zora Armor on when you reach this waterfall.
On this island, you will see a small pond with a metal platform beyond it. Kill the Zonai Construct on the platform.
Attach the rockets onto the platform, pointing toward the island in the distance. Once you use the rockets to shoot the platform across the sky, paraglide the rest of the way to this island.
Interact with the Zonai structure in order to create a wind gust on the platforms to your right.
Use the wind to slowly glide your way around the island until you reach the top.
Once at the top, you will see a circular hole you can glide into.
Once you head inside this hole, you will notice a large amount of lasers. You want to avoid hitting these. If you do hit them, the bottom exit will close.
Past that lasers, you will see a shrine. This antigravity Shrine has you defeating Zonai Constructs without your own equipment.
Behind the shrine, you will see a lava pit. Use something made of water (Splash Fruit, Chuchu Jelly, Zonai Hydrant, etc.) to create a stone platform.
Standing on the platform and using the Ascend ability will take you to an area with a chest.
Inside the chest is the Zonaite Waistguard.
The Zonaite Shin Guards Location
This final piece is located in the Sky Mine near the Sokkala Sky Archipelago. You can reach this area by using the Ulri Mountain Skyview Tower and flying to the island in the picture.
Once on the island, you will see a large amount of Zonai Devices. Attach four fans (one on each side) to the metal platform. Then attach all the batteries in the area around the fans. Finally, add the Zonai Steering Stick.
Then use the device to fly to the islands off in the distance. You shouldn't need to worry about the battery life as long as you attach all six batteries to the platform.
Interacting with the Zonai structure will make this block begin to move. Jump onto it while it is down and let it shoot you up toward the next island.
On this island, use the mechanism in the middle to move the block, so it can shoot you onto this island above. You want to land on the metal platform directly above the island.
Once on the platform, kill the Zonai Construct and attach rockets to the platform, so it will move away from its current location. As of now, it is blocking an area you will need in a moment.
You'll want to aim the block so that it will shoot toward the giant sphere above. You want a block on the island to go flying into the hole.
Once you have it lined up, place a block on top of the moving block and let it shoot into the sphere. Once it goes in, use the same block to shoot yourself inside the same hole.
Use the block that you shot into the hole to press the pressure-sensitive button in the middle. This will cause the sphere to shift.
Step up on the block and use your Ascend ability. You will then be on the outside of the sphere.
Jump off the top of the sphere and glide toward the open hole at the bottom of it.
Inside that hole, you will find a chest.
The chest contains the final piece of the armor set, the Zonaite Shin Guards.
