To put the Hylian Hood down, Link will have to visit the Hateno Village and complete all quests related to the mayoral election storyline. Beginning with the Cece vs. Reede Side Quest, you’ll have to resolve the conflict to get the opportunity to lower the Hylian Hood.

Once you’ve completed all the quests, you’ll be rewarded with Cece’s Hat for helping her with the election. However, that is not all. If you talk to Cece again while wearing the Hylian Hood, she will offer you the opportunity to lower it, turning it into a unique piece of clothing.

To put the hood back up, you can talk to Cece again, and she will offer you the option to revert the change she made to the Hylian Hood, returning it to its initial appearance. Unfortunately, the game doesn’t allow you to toggle between lowered and unlowered appearances from the inventory. To get both types of hood at the same time, we’ll have to go the roundabout route.

To do this, you’ll need to purchase a new Hylian Hood from Lookout Landing or Cece’s Shop so that you have two hoods in your inventory. Talk to Cece while wearing one to modify it and leave the other one unmodified. This way, you’ll have both appearances to switch between from the inventory menu. Remember to sort by Set to always have the hoods next to each other.
