Quick Links

The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom has 35 armor sets scattered around Hyrule for Link to collect. On the ground, in a cave, in the Depths, or in the sky, there's more than enough armor to go around. Returning from Breath of the Wild are Set Bonuses; when taking your armor to a Great Fairy for upgrading, upgrading all the pieces in a set twice - that's two stars on each piece - will unlock a nifty passive effect. These bonuses only activate when the entire set is worn, so unfortunately you'll have to put away your dreams of mixed outfits for the time being. That being said, upgrading an entire armor set twice can be costly... Is it always worth it?

Before you think of upgrading your armor to unlock some set bonuses, make sure to stop and check how many Great Fairies you've unlocked. If you visit a stable, chances are you'll run into the Stable Trotters, a wandering troupe of musicians. The Stable Trotters may be missing some members, and bringing the band back together is the only way to coax the Great Fairies out of their buds. Once you do this, you can visit the Great Fairy at any time to upgrade your armor. Each Great Fairy you unlock increases the limit of how much you can upgrade - four Great Fairies lets you reach the max tier of four stars, for example. So make sure to get at least two of the Great Fairies unlocked before looking for set bonuses!

Some armor sets don't provide any set bonuses when upgraded. As a result, they will not be listed.

Costume Armor Sets

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Twilight Set

The armor sets that pay homage to the clothes worn by past Links all share the same set bonus; Attack Up. The Twilight, Awakening, Hero, Time, Wind, Wild, and Sky sets all provide this bonus. This appears to provide a passive level 1 Attack Up effect.

Armor of the Depths

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom The Depths Armor

The Armor of the Depths can be found by discovering the Bargainer Statues in the Depths. The Depths Armor's set bonus is Gloom Damage Resistance; on top of giving you the extra three hearts that will take Gloom Damage for you, attacks from Gloom enemies will be further reduced. Very handy for traversing Hyrule's underworld.

Ancient Hero's Aspect

totk ancient hero aspect

Your reward for completing all 152 Shrines is the Ancient Hero's Aspect, which can be found at the Temple of Time (the one in the sky) after receiving your last Light of Blessing. The Ancient Hero's Aspect's set bonus is Master Sword Beam Up; like it says, it powers up the beam attack of the Master Sword, which can be performed by using the throw button with the Master Sword equipped while at full HP.

Barbarian Armor

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Barbarian Armor Set

If you're looking to do some damage, the Barbarian Armor is where it's at. The Barbarian Armor provides the Charge Attack Stamina Cost Decrease bonus, decreasing the stamina cost of your charge attacks. This is pretty useful if you like taking advantage of Heavy weapons' spin attack.

Charged Armor

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Charged Set

The Charged Armor provides the Stormy Weather Charge Attack Cost bonus, reducing the cost of your charge attacks while it's storming. What sets this apart from the Barbarian or Fierce Deity armor sets is that this bonus appears to provide a greater reduction to your stamina costs, letting you fire off a fully charged charge attack while consuming barely half a wheel of stamina.

Climbing Gear

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Climbing Set

The Climbing Gear provides the Climbing Stamina Cost Reduction bonus. This bonus reduces the stamina cost of jumping while climbing. If you really need to make it to the top of a cliff, then this set bonus is for you. Just mash the X button and watch Link scramble up a fifty-foot cliff like it's nothing.

Dark Armor

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Dark Armor

While the Dark Armor provides no passive effect, it oddly enough has a set bonus; the Night Speed Up bonus. As its name suggests, Night Speed Up gives you a passive speed boost while it's nighttime. This can be perfect for fleeing encounters at night, should you be caught unprepared.

Desert Voe Armor

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Desert Voe Set

The Desert Voe Armor, which can be obtained from Kara Kara Bazaar and Gerudo Town's Secret Shop, provides the Shock Resistance Set Bonus. While the Desert Voe Armor provides a Heat Resistance effect while worn, the Shock Resistance bonus can be invaluable while dealing with Electric Keese and Lizalfos that dwell in the desert.

Ember Armor

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Ember Set

Similarly to the Charged Armor, the Ember Armor provides the Hot Weather Charge Attack Cost bonus. This makes it so your charge attacks' stamina cost is severely reduced while it's hot - meaning any weather where the temperature dips into the red area, as well as the fiery climate of Death Mountain's cave systems. Make sure to pack some cooling Elixirs, as hot weather can quickly sap Link's health.

Evil Spirit Armor

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Evil Spirit Armor

The Evil Spirit Armor provides the Bone Damage Up / Disguise bonus; this set bonus provides a large increase to damage dealt by bone weapons, as well as making it so Stal- enemies won't attack you. "Bone" weapons can include the arms of fallen Stal enemies, as well as fused weapons that have the Spiny Bone.

Fierce Deity Armor

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Fierce Deity Set

The legendary Fierce Deity Armor provides the Charge Attack Cost Reduction bonus, reducing the stamina cost of your charge attacks. While the Fierce Deity Armor is undoubtedly cooler than the Barbarian Armor, it's unfortunately much costlier to upgrade, requiring Dragon Parts for each piece.

Flamebreaker Armor

Link gliding to Goron City and Wearing the Flamebreaker Armor Set

The Flamebreaker Armor, obtained from Goron City, provides the Fireproof bonus. This makes you immune to most sources of fire, such as, well, fire, as well as contact with Igneo Taluses, and the fire breath of Fire Lizalfos. It does not, however, make you immune to the attacks of some stronger enemies, such as a Gleeok or Lynel. You won't be set on fire, but you'll still take damage!

Froggy Armor

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Froggy Set-1

Perhaps one of the most useful new armor sets, the Froggy Armor provides the Slip Proof bonus. Gone are the days when an unexpected rainstorm got in your way as you attempted to scale a cliff; now you can climb at your leisure, no matter how slippery the surface! This unfortunately does not mean you can climb unclimbable surfaces, such as the walls of Shrines.

Frostbite Armor

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Frostbite Set

The Frostbite Armor provides the Cold Weather Charge Attack Cost Reduction bonus. Much like its counterparts, this set bonus provides a huge reduction to the stamina cost of charge attacks while it's cold, meaning any weather that puts the temperature into the blue part of the thermometer. Make sure to pack some warming foods though, as the Frostbite Armor doesn't provide any Cold Resistance!

Glide Armor

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Glide Set

The Glide Armor, obtained by completing the various Tests of Courage found among the Sky Islands, provides the Impact Proof bonus. This is, perhaps, one of the best set bonuses in the game, completely nullifying fall damage. Link could dive from the highest Sky Island to the deepest pit of the Depths uninterrupted and smack face-first into the ground and be no worse for wear. If there's any armor set you should upgrade, it's this one.

Miner's Armor

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Miner’s Set

The Miner's Armor provides the Shining Steps bonus. While the Miner's Armor gives you a Level 3 Glow effect to light up your surroundings, the Shining Steps bonus will cause you to occasionally leave being glowing spots while walking. This can help you navigate the pitch-black areas of the Depths you haven't lit up yet, as well as provide a trail for you to use should you get lost.

Radiant Armor

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Radiant Armor at Night

The Radiant Armor, which can be bought from the armor shop in Kakariko, provides the Bone Damage Up / Disguise bonus. This lets you blend in with Stal enemies while also providing a massive damage bonus to bone weapons. Grab a Spiny Bone and fuse it onto a Royal Broadsword and watch a Lynel's healthbar melt.

Rubber Armor

Tears Of The Kingdom Link In Full Rubber Armor

The Rubber Armor provides the Lightning Proof bonus. This makes you impervious to being shocked, as well as lightning damage. Electric Keese can no longer harass you and knock weapons out of your hands, and Electric Like Likes can only look on in horror as their attacks bounce off of you. However, it does not make you immune to attacks from stronger enemies, such as a Thunder Gleeok. You won't be shocked, but it'll still hurt!

Snowquill Armor

Snowquill Armor Set Location in Tears of the Kingdom

The Snowquill Armor provides the Unfreezable bonus. This makes you unable to be frozen, meaning you can stroll on through icy attacks like it's nothing. You can even climb on Frost Taluses without being frozen! However, this bonus doesn't make you immune to damage from freezing water or attacks from strong enemies, such as Frost Gleeoks.

Stealth Armor

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Stealth Set

The Stealth Armor provides the Night Speed Up bonus, useful for sneaking up on foes and sneak-striking them as they sleep. Or, you could act as a phantom thief and quickly steal all of their weapons and chests, then vanish as quickly as you came. Either way, it's a great way to travel at night.

Tingle's Clothes

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Tingle’s Set Inventory

While Tingle's Clothes provide no passive effect (apart from disturbing Hyrule's population), Tingle's Clothes can be upgraded to provide the Night Speed Up bonus. What form of activities was the strange Tingle getting up to in the night? All we know is that he apparently did it quite quickly.

Yiga Armor

The character in Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom has Link dressed as a Yiga Clan member to gain access to their hideout.

To round out the last few set bonuses, the Yiga Armor also provides the Night Speed Up bonus. Whether you want to side with the Yiga or Shiekah is up to you. Or you could dye each set the opposing colors, with crimson Stealth Armor and navy Yiga Armor. The Yiga Armor also lets you enter Yiga hideouts - just don't take any of it off!

Zonaite Armor

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Zonaite Armor

The Zonaite Armor provides the Battery Charge Up bonus. This increases the speed at which your Energy Cell recharges. This set bonus, combined with the Zonaite Armor's passive effect of reducing the energy cost of Zonaite devices, is perfect for any mad scientist looking to test out their latest creation or for operating flying machines.

Zora Armor

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Zora Armor Set

The Zora Armor provides the Swim Dash Stamina Reduction bonus. This reduces the stamina cost of the dash you can perform while swimming. Combined with the Zora Armor's Swim Speed Up effect, you can easily cross rivers in no time at all. This bonus also seems to apply to the Zora Helmet's spin attack - though it's more efficient to simply attack from a boat.
