And one of the best is the Golden Horse, which once belonged to Princess Zelda. While you cold very easily stumble across this horse during your exploration, it also plays a role in an important quest that takes you to the very northernmost part of the map.

How To Find The Golden Horse

TotK - Penn & Harlow Speaking

The horse can be found very far north, in the North Tabantha Snowfield. If you are taking part in the Potential Princess Sightings! questline, then you will be sent to this area to meet Penn at the Snowfield Stable. Here, you will find him deep in conversation with a patron of the stable, Harlow.

Approach them and join in the conversation, where Penn will have Harlow tell you about the Golden Horse that Princess Zelda had him taking care of. He tells you a story of how the horse got spooked by something and bolted, and now they can't find it. This will give you the Zelda's Golden Horse quest that must be completed as part of the Potential Princess Sightings! quest.

He will point you in the right direction, to the north, and tell you that if you want to find it, it went that way. He will also tell you about a massive beast in the area that you need to be careful of. That hasn't stopped you before though, so head off to find the horse.

The Golden Horse will be found a decent distance north, so get ready for a lengthy trek. Along the way, you will find the beast that Harlow warned you about: a Frost Gleeok. This monster is a tough battle, so plan to give it a wide berth to avoid it, unless you're feeling particularly brave.

TotK - Golden Horse in Field

Eventually, you will come across a great, open field, with the Oshozan-u Shrine in sight. The Golden Horse is likely on the opposite side of the field from the Shrine, among a herd of normal horses. It's very hard to miss; even in the dark snow, the gold fur shines brightly.

The process of taming this horse is the same as any other, though it requires a good amount of stamina, specifically, one full wheel. You will need to do the normal process of sneaking up to the horse, and get ready to sprint at the last moment as the Golden Horse will flee earlier than other horses.

If you manage to mount the horse, start spamming the L button to calm the horse down. Once it's good to go, you can head back to Snowfield Stable and speak with Penn and Harlow. Harlow will thank you for getting the horse, and even give it to you to keep. You can register the horse right there to make sure you can access it from any Stable in the future.
