Diamonds, as in our realm, are valuable in this game's world. As such, it will be difficult to come across them, unless you know where to go. Once you're through with this guide, however, you should have no problem finding and obtaining some.

Updated by Isabella Risoni on June 13, 2023: Diamonds are the rarest and most sought-after gem in The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom. Due to the value diamonds hold, it's important to know every possible location you're able to obtain them. The longer this game is out, the more we are learning about it, so we've added a couple more ways to obtain diamonds. There are 3 more shrines added to the list that will give you a diamond as a Rauru's Blessing reward along with the Talus Bosses as they can potentially drop diamonds as well.

Diamond Uses

The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom is showcasing the diamonds in their inventory with the description as Link stands idle.

Diamonds in this game can be used for a variety of different things. You can even sell them to merchants to quickly get some rupees in a pinch. Diamonds can also be used to decorate your sword by fusing them. While diamonds will not add elemental power to your weapons, they are pretty and valuable. Try to hold off on selling your diamonds if you can throughout the game, as once you get to the end of their respective quest chains, the Rito and Gerudos will have quests for you once you complete those regions. There will be a quest at the Gerudo Town as well as plenty to do in the Rito Village.

From these, you will gain access to a special weapon that will cost diamonds. You'll be surprised to learn that while diamonds are rare, there are numerous places to find them in this game. You may have already been to some of these places, but if you missed them before, they're worth going back to obtain.

Diamonds From Mining Ore

The character in Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom is mining ore in search of diamonds.

In Hyrule, you can mine for Ore deposits in the caves, and occasionally you will find a diamond. This method is very slow as not every ore deposit will contain a diamond. However, other gems will be found by mining that could come of use later on. There's a very low chance of them being dropped, but if you're persistent, you're bound to find a few this way. There are a lot of ore deposits located in the Goron caves when you are at Death Mountain as well.

The mineral deposits that have gold bumps and glimmer will drop rare items such as diamonds, topaz, and other gems like sapphires and rubies.

Defeating Talus Bosses

The character in The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom is about to have a mini boss fight by battling a Talus.

Talus Bosses are mini boss battles, and they can be found throughout Hyrule. While they do move slower due to them being giant walking boulders, their hit can definitely hurt you quite a bit. The drop rate from defeating Talus Bosses is unknown, however the stronger the Talus, the more valuable the stone they will drop. You will find the strong ones in the depths however if you are searching for an elemental one, the Ignus Talus will be found at the Eldin Canyon. Diamonds aren't the only mineral they can drop so either way you could walk away with a valuable stash.

Diamonds From Merchants

The character in Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom is talking to the merchant in Goron City about purchasing a diamond for 1000 rupees.

In Goron City, you can purchase diamonds from the merchant. While this seems like an easy way to get diamonds, it will definitely cost you. At 1,000 rupees per diamond, you'll certainly run out of rupees before obtaining a good amount of diamonds. The good news with this method is that an NPC named Ramella appears sporadically in Goron City, not far from the merchant who will purchase ore from you.

For every 10 ore, she will specify what she's looking for, which will vary, but she will give you 1,000 rupees in exchange. She gives you more than the shop will, so always check with her first if you can. If you're constantly mining and have a bunch of ore, this would be a feasible way to get diamonds.

To refresh the shop, travel across the world, sleep twice for 24 hours, then you will have a restocked shop.

Diamonds From Dondons In Bronas Forest

The character in Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom is using the glider towards the Dondons in Bronas Forest.

At the Lakeside Stable near the Joju-u-u Shrine, there is a small camp located near the Bronas Forest. Near this camp, you'll find some Dondons. If you feed these beasts luminous stones, they will drop out gems after roughly 20 minutes of game time. Simply drop, feed the Dondons, then go off on a random adventure for 20 minutes or so.

It has to be active play time — pause times are not included — then return and see what they dropped for you. Keep in mind a diamond drop is very rare. Some have done this run 12 times and have only received 2 diamonds, so keep that in mind when choosing this method.

Diamonds From Duplication Glitch Method

The character in Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom has duplicated diamonds in Lookout Landing.

There are some that have found a duplication method that allows you to duplicate gems such as diamonds, even some wildlife. There is no word on when or if this will be patched. Follow this step-by-step to duplicate your diamonds.

  1. Put the diamond in the last slot in your inventory. You'll want a low amount so have roughly 4 in your inventory. Grab the 4 and drop them on the ground. Once you pick them back up, they will be at the bottom of your inventory in the lower right corner.
  2. At Lookout Landing, you don't need any special gear to do this. However, you will need the glider. Go up to a high spot where you can jump off the ledge, there is one ramp structure near the entrance.
  3. Jump and hit glide. As soon as you hit glide, open your menu to pause the game.
  4. Find an item in your inventory that you have a singular quantity of. Link can hold up to 5 items. Hold this item in the first slot. Fill up the remaining slots with the 4 diamonds. It doesn't have to be 4, it can just be 1 if you want.
  5. Next, you're going to have to do a little "menu-ing". You will have to press the plus button twice. You're going to want to exit the menu then reenter the menu in a frame-perfect way. You may not succeed your first time, but with practice, you will.
  6. You will notice Link still has the 4 diamonds, even though he couldn't hold them because he was gliding so the game gets confused and drops them in front of you.
  7. Round 2, grab another single-quantity item and put that in the first holding spot then add the 4 diamonds again.
  8. Repeat the double plus button to close and reopen the menu while still in the air. Now you just dropped another 4 diamonds in front of you while 4 diamonds remain in your inventory. The item you put in the first holding spot will disappear.
  9. For a third round, repeat the process of putting a singular item in the first hold spot, then the diamonds after. Press the plus button twice, and you should have dropped 4 more diamonds.
  10. A fourth time around, repeat the steps of adding the singular item along with the 4 diamonds and hit the pause button twice.

Do not get too greedy with it as the world limit for dropped items is around 21. Only do 4 rounds of it at a time, so they don't start despawning.

You can use this duplication method with almost anything in your inventory.
