The Legend of Zelda is full of Fairies. From the likes of Navi in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time to Tingle, a reoccurring character from the series who believes himself a Fairy reincarnate, the series has seen its fair share of Fairies. Even the Great Fairies have played massive roles in the series.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is no different. With several references to Tingle and the Great Fairies, there are tons of Fairies to find in the game. However, Link can also find Fairies that can be used as an extremely useful resource in the game. This guide will tell you where to find them, how to catch them, and how to use them.
Updated by Erin Rice on June 10, 2023: This update included information on armor sets that give Link a bonus to his Stealth and where these sets can be found. It also added some recipes for creating Sneaky meals and Elixirs that will give a boost to Link's Stealth.
What Are Fairies
Fairies are small winged creatures that resemble flying pink orbs. They may very well be the most useful resource in the game. Fairies are able to heal Link after he has died. This can be extremely useful when fighting bosses that aren't easy. They will only heal 5 Hearts, but that gives Link a chance to use food or meals that have already been prepared in order to heal the rest of the way. They can be great resources to have in your inventory. The in-game description for Fairies reads, "This fairy will fly from your pouch and heal you the moment you lose your last heart. It's easily mistaken for a firefly at first, but it glows in the daylight as well as night."
How To Find Fairies
Fairies can be found anywhere throughout the Kingdom of Hyrule. They are usually found near water sources. The most common places to find them are ponds, lakes, caves, and in wells. These creatures will be flying and glowing around the water in these areas. There are a few noteworthy places you can find Fairies.
- Courage Island
- Bravery Island
- Valor Island
- Dueling Peaks Stable Well
- Outskirt Stable Well
One way to find Fairies is to take a picture of them with the Camera and then add them to your Sensor+. This will allow the sensor to beep anytime one is near, meaning you will never miss a Fairy again.
How To Catch Fairies
Catching Fairies is similar to catching all other types of creatures. You will need to be stealthy if you want a Fairy. You can use certain armor sets to achieve this. You can also create some meals or elixirs that increase stealth. After that, you will want to crouch and walk slowly toward the Fairies. Running at them will scare them off. Unlike other creatures, you cannot shoot Fairies with your arrows. Sometimes the Fairies will float too high for you to reach. If you wait long enough, they will fly back down.
Stealth Armor Sets
There are 4 sets of armor in the game that offer Stealth to Link.
This armor set can be found in Kakariko Village at the Armor Shop. You need to complete the quest Gloom-Borne Illness before you can easily purchase the armor.
This set can be found in the many different Yiga Clan Hideouts in the Kingdom of Hyrule.
This armor set is given to Link after completing each of the 3 Labyrinths in the Kingdom of Hyrule.
Sheik's Mask is found in the Desert Coliseum in The Depths.
Stealth Recipes
You can find several different Stealth recipes in the game.
- Sneaky Elixir
This Elixir is made using 1x Sunset Firefly and 1x Monster Part. When mixed together, they create this great Elixir.
- Sneaky Meals
A Sneaky meal can be made by mixing items that have the Sneaky Boost. These include Silent Princess, Blue Nightshade, Sneaky River Snail, Silent Shroom, and Stealthfin Trout. Mixing these ingredients together will create a Sneaky meal.
How To Use Fairies
Thankfully, you don't have to do anything to use a Fairy. As long as you have one in your inventory when you die, you will automatically be healed. This can happen as many times as Fairies you have within a single battle.
