The Blue Nightshade is one such resource, and it gives you something more than just an ingredient to use in cooking. When you bring it to a Great Fairy, you will be able to use it to improve your armor, specifically the Stealth Set. This armor set is crucial for any of you looking to keep your Link sneaking through enemy encampments as much as possible. But in order to use it to upgrade your Stealth Set, you are going to need to know where you can find it to start farming.

Updated by Shane Black on June 30th, 2023: This guide was updated to explain the further uses of Blue Nightshade, specifically its uses for dyeing your clothes in Hateno Village, as well as who to bring it to. Other than that, the guide was updated to add more links to relevant guides and articles.

Where To Find Blue Nightshade

TotK - Farosh Hills Location on Map

There are two locations in the world that you can use to farm the Blue Nightshade:

  1. Farosh Hills
  2. Great Fairy Fountain in Kakariko Village

If you are looking for the Blue Nightshade in Farosh Hills, you won't have to look very far. If you visit the area during the night, you easily find 15+ of the Blue Nightshade all around the area, along with plenty of other useful resources that you can pick up for yourself.

The same thing goes for the Great Fairy Fountain at Kakariko Village. If you visit during the night, you will find a good amount of these flowers littered around the area. There is also a nearby mountaintop that you can climb to that will have even more flowers for you to choose from. As is the case with the Farosh Hills, as well, there are some other useful resources around here as well, so go ahead and loot just about everything that you can.

You can also find these flowers all across Hyrule, usually around hills, trees, and cliffs. You just need to keep an eye out for their blue, bulbous appearance while you wander through the map. With enough time, you should have a large supply of Blue Nightshade to draw from when you need them.

Armor Upgraded With Blue Nightshade

zelda tears of the kingdom stealth armor shop

Given the Blue Nightshade's boost to Stealth, the armor set that it helps you upgrade is the Stealth Armor Set, all three pieces of it.

You can find this set for purchase at Enchanted, the armor shop in Kakariko Village. Just be sure you complete the Gloom-Borne Illness quest first so you won't have to pay an absurd amount of Rupees to get it.

Once you have the armor, you can take it to a Great Fairy to start upgrading each piece — so long as you have the prerequisite materials needed for the upgrade. There are only a couple levels for each piece of armor that you need Blue Nightshade for, and they are as follows:

Piece of Armor

Levels That Blue Nightshade Is Needed

How Much Total Blue Nightshade Needed

Stealth Mask

1-Star (4 Armor) 2-Star (6 Armor)

1-Star: Blue Nightshade x3 2-Star: Blue Nightshade x5 Total: Blue Nightshade x8

Beyond using it to upgrade armor, you can also use Blue Nightshade to create Blue Dye at the Kochi Dye Shop in Hateno Village. Bring the Blue Nightshade to Sayge, and you can make a chemical to turn the color of your armor blue, should you want to do so.
