Each Sage has a special ability to help Link. While all 5 are extremely useful, you may get more use out of some than the others. If you want to know which ones are the most useful, this list will help you out.

You can upgrade each Sage once using Sage's Wills. These can be found in the Sky Islands, and once you have 4, you can upgrade to a Sage.

5 Riju

breath of the wild riju

Riju is the Gerudo Sage, and her main ability is vital to traversing the Gerudo Desert. She can be found during your quest to save Gerudo Town from the horrible sandstorm that is forcing the Gerudo to hide in an emergency shelter.

Riju is spending her time training in the desert, trying to figure out a way to save her people. Once Link meets her, the two work together to hone Riju's skills. While she is last on the list, her ability is no joke.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Riju Power

Riju is able to shoot large bolts of lightning wherever Link shoots his bow. Her skill not only helps Link take on any enemy easier, but it is also invaluable while roaming the Gerudo region and trying to complete the Lightning Temple.

In this region, Gibdo roams free. They are skeleton-like beings that are extremely difficult to beat without using an elemental attack on them first. Their flying counterparts that look like mosquitos aren't any easier. Thankfully, Riju's lightning can take these enemies out with ease. The only downside is that if you don't use your bow often, this isn't a huge help.

4 Yunobo

Yunobo is the Goron Sage, and his ability is vital for traversing this region. When you reach Goron City, Yunobo will be feeding the Gorons Marbled Rock Roast. He is being controlled, and his food is controlling the Gorons.

Link will need to confront Yunobo, leading to a large altercation. During the battle against Yunobo, his mask will break, allowing him to be free of his mind control. Link and Yunobo must work together to figure out who did this to the Gorons.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Yunobo Power

His ability is to turn into a ball that Link can send flying into objects or enemies. While this skill can help Link kill large groups of enemies faster, it can also help break through rocks. If you don't want to waste a weapon while mining or traveling in craves, use Yunobo.

Considering Death Mountain is full of caves, Yunobo's ability to break rocks is invaluable. He also uses the ability in the Fire Temple several times. He can hit different objects to break them or cause them to change the rail tracks. While this skill is invaluable, it isn't the best in the Sages' arsenal.

3 Sidon

Sidon is the Zora Sage, and he is an absolute fan-favorite with so many Zelda fans. He can be found while trying to save Zora's Domain from the strange muddy substance that is raining down from the Sky Islands.

Link and Sidon work together to discover that the muddy substance is coming from a specific area of the Sky Islands. Using ancient Zora texts, they are able to figure out exactly what to do to save Zora's Domain.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Sidon Power

Sidon's ability has several uses. To begin with, he will place a barrier of water around Link. This will act as a shield, shielding Link from a single hit. This water shield will wet all Zora weapons that Link is carrying, essentially doubling their damage. Link also has the ability to swing his weapon, causing water to shoot wherever he is swinging it.

Creatures covered in muddy substances roam around Zora's Domain and the Water Temple. Sidon's ability washes that substance away. It also damages fire-type enemies easily and works as an elemental attack against Gibdos. The use of an elemental attack, a shield, and a way to wet Zora's weapons places Sidon higher than the other two on this list.

2 Tulin

Tears of the Kingdom - Tulin Feature

Tulin is Rito's Sage and another fan-favorite. He can be found while Link is trying to save the Rito region of Hyrule from a terrible blizzard that is ruining their home. The Rito aren't even able to fly due to how horrible the blizzard is.

Tulin can be found trying to get to the bottom of this disaster. He believes that the problem is being caused by the Stormwind Ark, a legendary floating boat that many Rito believes to be fiction. With Link's help, he works to prove those Rito wrong.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Tulin Power

Tulin's ability is a gust of wind that allows Link to go farther on his paraglider. At first, this may not seem like much. However, testing how far you can go with and without Tulin's ability shows just how useful it is. It allows Link to travel much farther in a faster amount of time on his paraglider.

While this ability is vital to traversing the Rito area and the Wind Temple, it is still useful anywhere you go. It makes getting around with the paraglider so much easier, especially if you don't have the Glide Armor set yet.

1 Mineru

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Mineru

Mineru is the final Sage and the one you might not know about. She is the Zonai Sage and the sister of King Rauru himself. The quest to find her is long and difficult, but it is so worth it in the end. She is found while following the "Find The Fifth Sage" questline.

When you find Mineru, her spirit is inside Link's Purah Pad, put there by Zelda. She will ask Link to rebuild her construct in The Depths so that she can impart her spirit upon the construct rather than Link's Purah Pad.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Mineru Power

Mineru's ability is different from every other Sage's ability. She is a Zonai construct that Link can ride around on. You can also fuse different items to her to use as weapons; however, fighting with Mineru does have a learning curve. Thankfully, the Spirit Temple allows Link to test out Mineru's fighting capabilities.

What makes Mineru the best Sage is how useful riding her can be. Mineru is able to walk over Gloom without Link taking any damage. She can also traverse deep waters and lava with ease. This makes traveling so much easier and makes her the most useful Sage.
