Ever since the Fuse mechanic was first revealed for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, it has been written in the stars that players would unlock its boundless joy and open the doors to remarkable–and insanely creative–contraptions. As I predicted before in my previous feature, that prophecy has come true, and we have been thoroughly impressed with the results.The combination of the Fuse mechanic and the game's abundant Zonai devices (ingenious contraptions that, in a sense, define Hyrule's industrial era) opened up the opportunity for fans to craft their own fantastical rides. Behold, a magnificent Tank-inspired vehicle, equipped with rockets and rear motors, and adroitly constructed by the talented @idonum.This mighty machine allowed the player to raid Bokoblin hideouts and even take on formidable bosses. "The Battle of Hyrule has changed," the headline of their post aptly captures the essence of how the rules of fighting and combat in general have evolved in the realm of Hyrule with the advent of Tears of the Kingdom.Some users, like @soulbanana (crossposted by CheahNz), have fully embraced the spirit of Japanese mecha. In a video they shared, they show off a creation made from various Zonai sleds, stakes, and batteries that allows them to maneuver around the battlefield like a formidable Gundam and obliterate everything in their path. What's more, Soulbanana recreates the entire Tokusatsu (super robot) sequences by using the Ascend phasing ability, reminiscent of the iconic "Get in the Mecha Shinji" scenes from Evangelion.
As if that weren't enough, another player named JJ_07 rose to the challenge by conjuring up a colossal kaiju-like enemy resembling Godzilla to complete the epic anime-inspired tableau. However, it seems that user DeadmouseZ (or the original creator of the video they shared) may have taken the joke a bit too far with his design and created a raging-boner Kaiju.
Some players, like Amboredentertainme, have stumbled upon the revelation that they can also attach rockets to NPCs, which is a neat trick for resolving Korok missions that require them to be transported from one location to another. Meanwhile, individuals such as YerlerDermernd grew frustrated with the lack of an easy way to launch the Zonai paraglider. As a solution, they took matters into their own hands and constructed personalized wing launchers.
Other inventive players like Raccoon--Man are busy constructing mechanical boats, while some like Lorcananan have defied the conventional notion of rails by using fused shields. Shield boarding seems to have become one of the fun new pastimes in Tears of the Kingdom, albeit with the caveat that shields are degraded by such activity.
