Following on from the huge success of the Super Mario Bros movie, another Nintendo property is being eyed up for a movie adaptation. Well, by 'eyed up', we mean Tears Of The Kingdom's producer Eiji Aonuma is interested.

In a recent interview with Polygon, Eiji Aonuma and Hidemaro Fujibayashi sat down to discuss all things The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom. Toward the end of the interview, the pair were asked how they felt about the prospect of a Zelda movie, following on from the box office success of the Super Mario Bros movie.

In response, Aonuma said, "I have to say, I am interested. For sure." However, Aonuma then went on to point out that his interest alone isn't enough to make a movie adaptation happen, saying, "But it’s not just me being interested in something that makes things happen, unfortunately." Fujibayashi was in agreeance, as he followed up by saying, "Maybe the voice of the fans is what’s important here."

Given the huge success of the Super Mario Bros movie, which stars the likes of Chris Pratt, Jack Black, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day, and more, it wouldn't be surprising if Nintendo was now looking at the possibility of bringing some of its other hit franchises to the big screen. Plus, given the huge popularity of Tears Of The Kingdom, a Legend Of Zelda movie certainly seems to make the most sense.

The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom was only released yesterday, but its already gained huge praise from fans and critics. Currently, Tears Of The Kingdom is the highest-rated game on OpenCritic, with an incredibly impressive average score of 97. Whether or not Nintendo intends on creating another sequel is yet to be known, but Aonuma and Fujibayashi did hint at possible concepts and ideas that didn't make it into Tears Of The Kingdom.

When asked by Polygon if there were any ideas during development that needed to be put to the side, possibly for a future installment, Fujibayashi said, "I have a few in mind, but I’m not sure if I can share them here. I wouldn’t want to ruin the surprise for people."
