One activity scattered around Hyrule is the many mini-games the developers have added to make the world feel more alive. Overall, there are around 12 or so of these mini-games, and they are found all over the map. If you're wanting to find them all and try them out, here is a guide to doing just that.

Flight Range Mini-Game

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Mini Game Flight Range

This mini-game is located in the Flight Range, which is just northwest of Rito Village. In order to unlock the mini-game, you'll need to complete the Regional Phenomenon quest for the Rito Village. This is the "Tulin of Rito Village" quest.

Here, you will be tasked with using your paraglider to get around the Rito's Flight Range. You'll need to fly through a certain amount of hoops in a certain amount of time. To begin with, you'll have 30 seconds to make it through 15 hoops.

Shield Surfing Mini-Game

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Mini Game Shield Surf

A fan-favorite from Breath of the Wild, the Shield Surfing mini-game makes a return in Tears of the Kingdom. While you can shield surf anywhere, you can unlock the mini-game by completing the quest "The Duchess Who Disappeared." This quest is found in the area known as Selmie's Spot, which is located north of the Rutafu-um Shrine.

Once you unlock this mini-game you can speak to Selmie inside the cabin at Selmie's Spot to start the game. She will have different courses you'll need to complete in a certain amount of time. The beginner's course needs to be completed in 50 seconds. If you're not sure how to shield surf, here's a walkthrough.

  1. Start running and use ZL to hold out your shield.
  2. Press X to jump.
  3. While in the air, press A to ride on the shield.

Collect Plushies Mini-Game

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Mini Game Plushies

While exploring the Hebra region, you can come across a Hylian with a wagon full of stuffed plushies. She is located on the road just southwest of the Kiuyoyou Shrine. Upon speaking to her, she will be startled, causing all the plushies to go fly.

You will be tasked with picking up all 10 plushies and placing them in her cart within a minute. The easiest way to complete this mini-game is to use your Ultrahand ability and fuse the plushies together as you find them. Then you can put them all in her wagon at once.

Ball Carry Mini-Game

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Mini Game Ball Move

This mini-game is located below the Tabantha Great Bridge, which can be found to the west of the Tabantha Bridge Stable and the Makurukis Shrine. Once you reach the bridge, just glide down into the canyon below. There, you will meet a Goron who will allow you to play.

In this game, you will need to carry a ball as far as you can in a certain amount of time while staying on course. Thankfully, the game allows you to use any Zonai Devices that you want to move the ball. As long as the ball moves and doesn't get off course, you can do whatever you want to complete the mini-game.

Rito Training Mini-Game

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Mini Game Training

This mini-game involves training like a Rito Warrior. Just south of the Great Tabantha Bridge, you can find a Rito standing beside a large crane. He will tell you that the crane is how he trains himself as a warrior. This is a very elaborate and difficult version of basketball.

In the mini-game, he will task you with catching the balls that a Goron throws at you and putting them into a floating basket. You'll have 12 balls thrown at you, and the normal balls only cost 1 point, while the red balls he throws will give you 3 points. You want to make as many points as possible to complete the game.

Strength Challenge Mini-Game

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Mini Game Strength

This mini-game is located on top of the hill overlooking the Coliseum Ruins. The closest Shrine is the Tsutsu-um Shrine, which is located near the Outskirt Stable. Once you reach the top of the hill, you will meet a Goron who will offer you this challenge.

Your goal is to use whatever means necessary to ring the Goron's bell as hard as you can. He has many Zonai Devices, rocks, and weapons that you can use to ring the bell. You can also come up with something on your own. The harder the bell is hit, the better you will do.

Desert Race Mini-Game

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Mini Game Desert Race

The Desert Race is located in the Southern Oasis Training Area. The closest Shrine to this area is the Karahatag Shrine, which is directly above where the race begins. Once there, speak to the Gerudo, and she will tell you that you can run through the desert training course the Gerudo Warriors do.

For this race, you will need to run through different arches scattered around the desert. Thankfully, you can complete this however you want. You can find Sand Seals in the desert, use Zonai Devices, or just run. However you want to do it, run through the course in a certain amount of time to complete the mini-game.

Lucky Treasure Mini-Game

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Mini Game Chests

After you complete the "Ruffian-Infested Village" quest, and save Lurelin Village, you'll be able to repair the Lucky Treasure Shop. This will allow you to play this mini-game, which, unfortunately, is based on luck rather than skill. Thankfully, it won't cost you anything though.

Link will be able to check the chests in the shop for Rupees. Each chest contains either a Green Rupee (worst prize), Blue Rupee (middle prize), or Red Rupee (best prize). Link can only open one chest, and this will be free due to helping Lurelin Village. However, if you want to open the others, you'll need Roasted Porgy. The owner will let you open a chest in exchange for one.

Lurelin Boat Races Mini-Game

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Mini Game Lurelin Race

Just like with the last mini-game, you'll need to complete the two quests associated with Lurelin Village first. Then you can find some NPCs on the beach discussing having boat races. You'll then travel to Tarrey Town to recruit some racers for the races. Once that is done, you can start this mini-game.

Travel to the area where the boat races are beginning and enter yourself into one. You will have different courses you can join, just like with Shield Surfing. Once you enter, you can use your own Zonai Devices or the ones provided to create a boat to use in the races. Once your boat is built, let the race host know, and you can race. Each racing course has a different time required to beat it.

Zonai Wing Gliding Challenge Mini-Game

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Mini Game Zonai Wing Glider

The Zonai Wing Glider Challenge can be found on Eventide Island. In order to begin, you'll need to complete the quest "Seeking The Pirate Hideout" which is given to you by the Monster-Control Crew member on the beach. Once completed, you can go to the southeastern most tip of the island. There, you will find a Rito and a Hylian doing experiments with a Zonai Wing Glider.

For this mini-game, you'll need to use a Zonai Wing Glider to travel to a certain area in the water. The goal is to land in the center of this area, landing you 100 Rupees. However, if you land anywhere in the area, you will obtain a prize.

Tarrey Town Racing Mini-Game

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Mini Game Tarrey Town Race

The Tarrey Town Racing mini-game is opened up once you reach Tarrey Town and help Tali build her car. Tali is found in the eastern edge of the Tarrey Town Construction Site, right beside the water's edge. Once Tali's car is built, she will be ready to begin the race.

In the race, you will be able to build your own car using the nearby Zonai Devices. You can create any fusion vehicle to use in the race. Once your vehicle is built, you just need to add the special Zonai Steering Stick and start the race.

Mine-Cart Land Mini-Game

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Mini Game Mine Cart

The Mine-Cart Land mini-game begins in the Southern Mine, just south of Goron City. Inside the mine, you will find 3 Gorons who are starting a business where they allow people to use their mine-carts and shoot down balloons. Once you finish the first location, they will give you the location of their next two business locations.

The point of this mini-game is to shoot down as many balloons as possible within the time limit. Depending on which course you're on, you will have varying amounts of time and balloons to shoot. The more you shoot, the better your prize will be at the end.

Diving Challenges Mini-Game

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Mini Game Diving

This mini-game is found on Bravery Island. Courage Island, and Valor Island. If you want an in-depth guide on how to get to these areas, you can check out this guide on finding the Glide Armor set. The armor set is the prize for completing each of these challenges.

To complete this challenge, you will need to dive from high up and fall through different hoops as you make your way to the end of the course. Each course gets progressively harder, and it may take a couple of times to complete. Once you have the full armor set, you can go back and complete this mini-game with the added bonus of the set.
