The following contains spoilers for the entirety of HBO's The Last of Us.

The Last of Us HBO recently premiered its season 1 finale, and after the collective shock and praise died down, acclaimed voice actress Laura Bailey confirmed that she appeared in the show during the final episode, though her cameo was rather easy to miss.

Many actors from the original game's central cast appeared in the HBO show in some form or another. Troy Baker, the original Joel, played David's right-hand man James, Ashley Johnson, the original Ellie, aptly played Ellie's mom Anna, while Jeffrey Pierce, the original Tommy, played the bearded Perry, a member of the clan that took down Kansas City's FEDRA.

Laura Bailey was not in the original game's cast, but instead played Abby, one of the central characters and playable protagonists of The Last of Us Part 2, which is perhaps why they decided to make her cameo a less conspicuous one. As seen above, Bailey confirms that she is one of the nurses in the operating room that Joel bursts into to save Ellie.

Just to be super specific, in case this cameo causes some confusion, this doesn't mean that was Abby. Abby will be played by someone else, given the age and appearance difference that Bailey has with her. The only actor who did reprise her role was Merle Dandridge, who also played Marlene in the original 2013 video game.

The show's already been renewed for a second season, and it's been confirmed that it will be based on The Last of Us Part 2, so the showrunners will soon be hard at work trying to find a live-action actor for Abby, if they aren't already.

Said showrunners, Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann, recently revealed that the second game's story will span more than one season. This makes sense, as this title is much longer than the first one and has an oddly structured story that will probably need heavy adjustments to be adapted for TV.
