Upgrading your character in Diablo 4 can really mean so many things. Skills, Paragon nodes, and unique class specializations are all much more detailed than previous generations of Diablo. But inevitably, one major factor that's always relevant is how powerful your gear is and what bonuses it all provides.
Legendary Aspects are essential for late and endgame builds, but don't lose sight of the simpler stats either. Affixes can be stacked up for extraordinarily strong buffs. Check out this handy Enchanting Guide to see how you can reroll your Affixes to make them better suit your needs.

How To Unlock Item Enchantment
The term "Enchantment" is used extremely loosely in Diablo games and can often refer to multiple things. Diablo 4's Sorcerer class has a unique specialization method called Enchantment, and Elite enemies' special effects are often referred to as "Enchantments." Hopefully this confusion will be reduced in further updates.
Just like many other more advanced features in Diablo 4, you won't be able to Enchant items right from the start. For this particular kind of Enchantment, players must reach at least Level 25. After this, any Occultist will offer to Enchant items in addition to the other options they already provide.
Item Enchantment Requirements & Restrictions
In order to Enchant an item at an Occultist, it must be Rare or Legendary in quality. As with most other services available in Diablo 4, Enchanting items has a gold cost. This one is particularly heavy, with the price going up each and every time you Enchant an item.
Additionally, Enchanting your items requires rare materials. Veiled Crystals are easy enough to find, since you collect them whenever you salvage Rare items at the Blacksmith. Fiend Roses are a little more complicated, and can only be obtained during Helltide Events. These occur randomly but last a full hour in real time — be sure to take advantage of any that you see on the map!
There is one more limitation related to Enchanting Items. Items in Diablo 4 can only have specific Affixes depending on what slot the item goes into. This is true for Aspects as well. For example, Boots may have +% Movement Speed, while Gloves may not. Plan your preferred Affixes accordingly.
