There are a ton of creative ways to use Recall, and even if you don't plan on using it too much, there are some aspects of the ability that make a lot more sense once you sit down and examine them. Here's everything you need to know about the Recall ability

How To Get Recall

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Temple of Time

You can get the Recall ability relatively early into the game. First, you'll have to complete three shrines on the Great Sky Island. Afterward, return to the Temple of Time and complete The Closed Door quest. After a shortcut scene, you'll gain the fourth and final ability, Recall.

How To Use Recall

Link uses Recall on a platform in Akkala.

To recall an object, simply hold the left bumper, select the Recall ability, and then click on the object you want to recall. That object will rewind through its last movements, letting you end the ability at any time and resume the normal flow of time for the object.

This lets you rewind the motion of a wheel, raise a falling object back into the air, quickly deconstruct vehicles you've made, and much more. Just about any item you can move with Ultrahand can also be recalled, and you'll be able to rewind these items roughly 20 seconds into the past.

As soon as you select the ability, time will stop, letting you aim precisely at whatever you want to use Recall on. However, since you'll be unable to make any big movements, make sure you're not standing too far away and are looking roughly in the right direction.

If you've done everything correctly, a wave of gray will sweep over your screen, and after a brief pause, the object will start moving backward in time while everything else moves as normal.

Getting Creative With Recall

Link rides a falling stone using Recall.

Most shrines will have you use Recall in satisfying yet simple ways, like reversing wheels to reach a hidden shrine. However, there's a lot more you can do with the ability once you start thinking outside the box.

For example, Recall can be used to launch yourself into the air any time you want. Just raise a platform into the air with Ultrahand, let it hang there for a few seconds, and then drop it. Once it hits the ground, Recall the platform, and voila, you've raised yourself into the sky. This works even better on the stone ruins that occasionally fall all around Hyrule.

Overshoot the sky island you were aiming for with a Wing device? Just Recall it to shift it back and give yourself another chance. And if you're looking for a way to use Recall in combat, remember that most projectiles can be recalled, bringing that weapon you threw right back or stopping a rock in its tracks.
